Willehad Eilers, also known as Wayne Horse, is a multifaceted artist whose work delves into themes of exuberance, societal fringes, and the chaotic beauty of imperfection. Eilers gained recognition for his black ink drawings that vividly depict party scenes filled with energy and a touch of absurdity. His practice is rooted in embracing spontaneity and the unexpected, rejecting the pursuit of 'perfect' art. Through bold experimentation, he transforms mistakes into moments of creative liberation.
Eilers’ work often blurs the lines between art and life, immersing viewers in experiences reminiscent of wild revelries and evocative narratives, making him a fitting voice for The Distorted Party.
For The Distorted Party, Willehad Eilers creates in the historic courtyard of the Hospice Comtesse an immersive site-specific installation.
He also presents four new paintings created exclusively for this exhibition; integrated into the museum’s historic collection.
Born 1981, Germany. Lives and works in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
Willehad Eilers graduated from the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam before attending the Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten, also in Amsterdam.
